TANK: The residents on Thursday staged a rally against lawlessness and demanded the government to restore durable peace in the region.Carrying banners and placards, the protesters gathered outside the deputy commissioner’s office.
The elders belonging to various tribes attended the rally.The protesters also blocked the main road to record their protest.Later, the elders held a jirga at the Town Hall ground.Speaking on the occasion, they announced to hoist black flags on their houses and shops to protest the government’s failure to provide them security.
The speakers said the people were considering leaving the area due to the worsening law and order situation.“It’s the duty of the government to provide security to the people in which it has failed,” said Maulana Naqibullah. He announced a boycott of the anti-polio drive in the area. The elders vowed to continue their sit-in outside the deputy commissioner’s office till the acceptance of their demands.
