Protection from flash floods: CM wants tender floated for CRBC
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Thursday directed the officials to float the tender for carrying out work for protecting the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) from flash floods.
According to a handout, he issued the directives while chairing a meeting of the Irrigation Department.The participants reviewed the matters related to handing and taking of CRBC (main canal) from WAPDA to the KP government.
Provincial Minister for Irrigation Aqib Ullah, Secretary Irrigation Tahir Orakzai and relevant WAPDA officials attended the meeting. Dera Ismail Commissioner attended the meeting via video link.
The chief minister instructed the officials to come up with viable proposals for the handing and taking over of the CRBC as early as possible. He said that the provincial government had already approved Rs62 million for protection works of the CRBC main canal.
The chief minister said the provincial government would provide funds required for the purpose on a priority basis.Briefing the participants about small dams projects nearing to completion, it was told that Latamber Dam in Karak district and Jaroba Dam in Nowshera district were ready for inauguration.
It was added that 91 percent work on Pezu Dam in Laki Marwat and 90 percent work on Khattak Banda Dam in Kohat district had been completed.Similarly, Zamir Gul Dam with 91 pc and Mukh Banda Dam with 88 percent of physical progress were in the line of completion. The chief minister said that speedy completion of small dams was a priority of his government.
