Ministers review Muharram security
LAHORE:Members of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order accompanied by CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana visited Nisar Haveli and Karbala Gamay Shah on Thursday.
During this visit, they inspected the central procession route for Ashura and reviewed security arrangements. Agha Shah Hussain Qazalbash along with organisers of processions and majalis met with CCPO, who assured comprehensive security measures during Muharram ul Haram. The CCPO emphasised that every possible step has been taken to ensure peace during Muharram ul Haram. Kamyana highlighted that police, administration and law enforcement agencies are actively present in the field day and night throughout the Ashura period.
He ensured that high alert security will be maintained until the conclusion of processions and majalis. Provincial Minister for Health and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Kh Salman Rafique, Minister Food Bilal Yasin, Secretary Home Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, IG Usman Anwar, Commissioner Zaid Bin Maqsood, Additional IG (Special Branch) Zulfiqar Hameed, DC Lahore Rafia Haider, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, CTO Lahore Ammara Athar, SSP (Operations) Tassawur Iqbal and others were present.
IG inspects Ashura procession route
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwer inspected the Ashura Muharram procession route at Nisar Haveli, Mochi Gate on Thursday. He was accompanied by senior officers including Additional IG Special Branch and CCPO Lahore. He met with Shia community leaders to review security, receiving positive feedback on Punjab Police's arrangements.
Shia leaders meet Additional IG
A delegation of Shia community leaders, licence holders of Majalis and processions and trustees visited the Central Police Office and met with Additional IG Operations.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements for Majalis and processions during Muharram. Additional IG Operations Shehzada Sultan said further improvements would be made to solve issues caused by goods transport vehicles and containers. He assured that strict adherence to time frame for entry and exit of goods transport and containers would be followed.
