MARDAN: Authorities imposed fines on 25 shops for selling substandard milk in the district on Wednesday.
According to a statement, Assistant Commissioner Mardan Ayesha Tahir, along with officials from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, conducted raids on milk shops across the city, using a mobile lab to analyse samples on the spot.
The statement stated that the assistant commissioner and food authority officials visited various bazaars, including Shamshi Road, Bigut Gunj Bazaar, and Chato Chowk, on Wednesday. They took milk samples from different shops, leading to fines for five shops due to the addition of water and chemicals in the milk, lack of cleanliness, and the sale of substandard milk, resulting in the destruction of large quantities of milk.
Each shop was fined Rs10,000. The statement urged the public to share their opinions on the quality of food items, especially milk, juices, water, and other liquids, by contacting the District Control Room at phone number: 09379230048. It would enable on-the-spot analysis through the modern mobile lab, ensuring those endangering human lives are properly punished.
