‘No decision yet on Babar’s captaincy’
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday clarified that no discussions have taken place regarding
Babar Azam’s future as the captain of the national team. In an informal interaction with media here, he said that the focus of recent meetings has primarily been on enhancing domestic cricket and improving the overall structure to support player development and performance.
Meetings with coaches to address this topic are yet to be scheduled. This statement comes amid growing speculation and debate among cricket enthusiasts regarding Babar Azam’s leadership following Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup.
“The PCB is currently focused on addressing structural issues within domestic cricket and improving overall fitness standards. As of now, no decision has been made regarding Babar Azam’s captaincy, with further discussions expected to take place in future meetings with coaches and relevant stakeholders,” he added.
