BCCI seeks cheap electricity for industries
They said that factories’ owners cannot afford exorbitant taxes and huge power expenses
KHAR: The Bajaur Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday asked the federal government to cancel all agreements with the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and provide cheap electricity to the industries in Bajaur tribal district.
Speaking at press conference, BCCI president Afzal Khan, group leader Lali Shah and chamber’s executive members said that industrialists were shutting their industries due to excessive power tariffs, which will further increase unemployment in the country.
They said that factories’ owners cannot afford the exorbitant taxes, huge power expenses, worsening law and order situation and unfavourable environment to run their businesses.
The businessmen said the government should come with a viable solution to boost industry and businesses in the country by providing cheap electricity and levying nominal taxes on them.
