IGP says police force acting against terrorists
MANSEHRA: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur said on Friday the police force was carrying out anti-terrorism operations and killed over 130 militants this year so far.
“Our gallant force is flushing out militancy and terrorism, and killed 130 terrorists, mostly in southern parts of the province, this year,” he said while speaking to mediamen after attending the passing-out parade of the police training school as chief guest here.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Tahir Ayub and District police officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur were present as well.
The IGP said the KP police had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism and militancy to protect people’s lives. “Our war is still on and our 71 officers and policemen laid their lives in the line of duty so far this year during intelligence-based operations,” Gandapur said.
The IGP said that the police and Counter-Terrorism Department in the joint IBOs arrested over 400 and terrorists only this year.He said that police had neutralized terrorist organizations and said even at this time his force was engaged in anti-terrorism operations in Kohistan Harban Basha and Dera Ismail Khan.Earlier, speaking at the passing out parade of the Police Training School, the IGP said that recruits were being physically and mentally trained to meet the contemporary challenges.
