Nadra chief, IG discuss security measures
LAHORE: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Lt-Gen M Munir Afsar called on Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwer during his visit to the Central Police Office on Friday.
Nadra chairman discussed various issues, including cyber security measures, enhancing bilateral cooperation, strategic partnerships, data information sharing with the IG Punjab. The IG praised Nadra's role in identifying criminals and terrorists, verifying citizens, and addressing policing issues. Nadra chairman expressed intentions to further expand cooperation with Punjab Police in suppressing and identifying miscreants and criminals.
IG Punjab briefed Nadra chairman on police operations and services facilitated through the Central Police Office's dashboard, highlighting progress on projects such as Smart Safe Cities and Police Stations.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by Punjab Police martyrs, Nadra chairman paid respects at the Yadgar of Shuhada and offered fateha for the police martyrs during his visit. Nadra chairman also visited the Waterfall Service Centre in Shadman, the Special Initiative Police Station, and Saiban Gulberg. Later, souvenirs were exchanged between the IG and Chairman Nadra. IG Punjab also presented him a copy of the book "Thane Punjab De" detailing the modernisation of police stations.
Cash prizes, certificates distributed among cops
The Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Friday awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to police teams for demonstrating outstanding performance in crime suppression. The IGP lauded performance of cops of 12 teams of Organised Crime Wing, six of Investigation Wing, and one of Operation Wing.
One police team received awards for apprehending members of Nigerian and Jordanian gangs involved in drug distribution in educational institutions. Another police team was honoured for combating suspects associated with the Topi gang. A police team was commended for arresting Khalilur Rehman, accused of drug trafficking from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sub-Inspector Umar Daraz was individually recognised for arresting suspects associated with the Hafiz group, Shehbaz Kachha group, and Malik Waqqas group. Several other cops received certificates of appreciation for arresting dangerous suspects involved in murder, robbery, and other criminal incidents.
