Power-sector dilemma

Pakistan is in the midst of a crisis and the suffering of the people is continually being increased by the immature decisions of our policymakers. In a nutshell, our rulers tend to favour the one per cent and ignore the rest. The 2024-25 budget points to a new influx in inflation due to an increase in energy costs while imposing even more taxes on the already taxed salaried class instead of dealing with the energy sector and economic reforms and security issues.
The policymakers need to revisit our agreements with the IPPs to reduce the burden on not only the economy but also to give some relief to the people, who are already overburdened. Promoting solarisation can also help solve the power sector crisis.
