ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet is going into session on Tuesday (today) and will take up an 11-point agenda, which has been released.
A summary of the dissolution of the boards of electricity distribution companies (Discos) will also be presented in the cabinet today. The cabinet committee’s decision on state-owned enterprises will be presented to the cabinet for approval, which was made on June 20. The committee had approved the dissolution of boards of governors of the Discos. After approval, a notification to dissolve the boards will be issued. It has been decided to form new boards for 9 out of 11 electricity companies. It has been decided to form new BoGs for Lesco, Fesco, Mepco, Gepco and Isco. New BoGs will also be formed for Pesco, Qesco, Tesco and Hesco. Professionals will be appointed to the distribution companies. An NOC will also be approved for the transit shipment of World Food Program for Afghanistan at Port Qasim.
The cabinet will also appoint the first rector of Pir Roshan Institute of Progressive Sciences and Technologies; approve the purchase of land for the establishment of Virtual University’s principal seat in Islamabad; approve the appointment of chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and signing of MoU for guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia.
The matter of the action committee regarding the property of the late Amir Bahawalpur will also be considered; appointment of Executive Director of Frequency Allocation Board would be approved; an annual report of the National Economic Council will be submitted and decisions of the ECC on June 13 will be ratified. According to sources, the cabinet will also be taken into confidence on the budget and other issues, especially the proposed military operation.
