Two alleged robbers killed in encounter

HARIPUR: Two alleged robbers were killed and a cop sustained injuries in an encounter, police officials said on Wednesday.

They said that two masked robbers reached the Utility Store franchise on a motorcycle, snatched the valet containing Rs15,000 from the owner and managed to escape. A police party headed by SHO City Haroon Khan chased the robbers and tried to intercept them near Pizza Hut, they said, adding the robbers opened fire on the police, leaving Constable Majid Khan injured. The police, they said, returned the fire, killing both the robbers on the spot.

The bodies and injured constable were taken to the Trauma Centre where the deceased were identified as Muhammad Ibrahim and Ali, residents of Paniyan village.
