Robbers snatch 65 goats, Rs2m from two citizens

Robbers looted a truck loaded with 65 goats worth millions of rupees and Rs2 million in cash from a citizen in separate incidents in the Malir district on Thursday.

Sukhan police said the robbers, riding a car, snatched the truck from Razaullah, a resident of Tharparkar. The victim lodged a report stating that he runs the cattle business and had come to the Bheins Colony cattle market on June 10 to sell his sacrificial goats.

On June 13, he said, his brother had loaded 65 more sacrificial goats from Tharparkar onto the truck and sent them along with two drivers and as many labourers. When the truck reached Makki Shah Dargah near Port Qasim Industrial Area on Mehran Highway at around 3:15am on Thursday, five robbers in a white car stopped their truck. Two of them had weapons and they took the driver and others into the car and one person remained with the truck, he added.

The robbers in the car kept driving the hostages around in the area and abandoned them near the Port Qasim forest at 5am. The robbers snatched cash, mobile phones, driving licences, ATMs and identity cards from the drivers and labourers.

Separately, in Gulshan-e-Hadeed’s Phase 2 in Steel Town, motorbike-borne robbers snatched Rs2 million from a citizen named Irfan and fled from the spot.

Police said the victim, Irfan, who is involved in the business of buying and selling vehicles and poultry, told them that he had left with Rs20 million from a private bank on Friday afternoon to pay the price of a vehicle when he was robbed.
