Pakistan is now out of the 2024 T20 World Cup, bringing a close to a terrible campaign that saw embarrassing losses to the US and India. When we were defeated by the relative amateurs of the US, many put all the blame on Azam Khan and the poor kid had to seemingly delete his Instagram account to save himself from abuse and shaming on social media. But when he was dropped from the line-up against India it did not lead to victory. Aside from nepotism and favouritism, one of the factors responsible for this debacle is the large amount of money being pumped into cricket, particularly in the post PSL era.
