Six officials get jail

PESHAWAR: The accountability court on Friday awarded sentence to five employees of Revenue Department and a citizen for illegal sale of government land measuring 102 kanal.           

The accountability court headed by Zarqaish Sani awarded the sentence after prosecutors from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) proved charges against them. The NAB had filed a reference of Rs10.6 million against the accused.

The court awarded six years imprisonment to a citizen Mukamil Shah, who in connivance of officials of Revenue Department, sold the state land measuring 102 kanal and three marlas in Katlang and Takhtbhai areas of Mardan district.                                                       

The court also awarded five-year term to Revenue Department’s head clerk Hazrat Sher and fined him Rs10.1 million while other employees, including Girdawars Malik Aman and Zahir Shah, Patwari Fazal Malik and head clerk Muhammad Farman were awarded 4-year sentence and fined Rs30.8 million.
