The Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Authority has decided to start new routes of the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi’s Malir, West and Keamari districts and Lyari Town.

In this regard, Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon held a meeting with the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) members of provincial and national assemblies on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by MNAs Abdul Qadir Patel and Agha Rafiullah, Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, MPAs Saleem Baloch, Yousuf Baloch, Yousuf Murtaza, Raja Abdul Razak, Liaquat Askani, Asif Khan and Shazia Singhar, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kamal Dayo, People's Bus Service Project Director Sohaib Shafiq and Operational Manager Abdul Shakoor.

The officials decided to extend the route of the Peoples Bus Service from the Ziauddin Hospital to Chakiwara Chowk via Bilawal Chowrangi, 26 Street, CM House, Sultanabad, and Mauripur. The PPP’s parliamentarians gave suggestions regarding new routes of the bus service in their respective constituencies. It was decided that the test buses for new routes from Hawkes Bay to Saddar and Manghopir to Banaras would start plying on Monday after a survey.

The PPP MPAs made suggestions to initiate a new route from Lyari to Malir and establish a People's Bus stop at Chakiwara in Lyari. Proposals were also made to introduce a red bus service from Malir to Lyari and a pink bus from Malir KDA Morr Ghareebabad to Yousif Goth Baldia Town.

Memon emphasised that the Sindh government was dedicated to ensuring a prosperous future for Karachi. He highlighted that the bus service expansion was a crucial step towards enhancing public transport and improving the overall quality of life for the citizens. He stressed that the government’s motto was to provide accessible, efficient and affordable transport to the public.
