Soldier, five militants killed in NWA check-post attack

MIRANSHAH: A soldier and five militants were killed as the security forces repulsed an attack on a check-post in the Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan, official sources said on Saturday.
The sources said that a group of militants attacked the security check-post in Dattakhel Bazaar early in the day.
They said the security personnel manning the post challenged the attackers, triggering a gun battle.
They said a soldier and five militants were killed in the exchange of fire that lasted for some time. The security forces launched a search operation against the militants soon after the attack. The security forces also targeted the suspected hideouts of the militants with heavy weapons including the artillery, the sources added.
