This letter refers to the article 'An ill-advised law' (May 28, 2024) by Omar Quraishi. The role of civil society cannot be denied when it comes to countering fake news. If media organizations keep countering fake news and promoting the truth, the spread of disinformation can be reduced to a large extent. It is time for civil society to do its part and curb the spread of disinformation and fake news.
