YDA’s protest fails to muster sufficient support
LAHORE:The members of Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab Tuesday held protest demonstrations outside hospitals located on Ferozepur Road and Jail Road against, what they called, health authorities' anti-doctor policies and denial of rights of doctors and patients.
Earlier, the YDA announced demonstrations outside all hospitals across the province, however, it failed to muster sufficient support and staged protests outside only two hospitals.
Reportedly, only 30 to 40 doctors turned up and dispersed within 10 to 15 minutes. YDA Punjab president Dr Shoaib Khan Niazi said patients are facing shortage of medicines in hospitals and public money was being wasted in the name of renovation.
He wants hospitals be audited. He said the future plan of action would be announced in due course of time. Talking to reporters, the YDA members mentioned their demands and urged the CM to visit the hospitals and observe pathetic conditions of the hospitals with her own eyes.
