LAHORE:Heat wave continued to grip the City as mercury reached 43.7°C here on Monday while Met office warned a rise of 04 to 06°C above normal in Sindh and Punjab from 21st to 23rd and from 06 to 08°C from 23rd to 27th May.
Met officials further warned that day temperatures were likely to remain 04 to 06°C above normal in Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan from 21st to 27th May.
They said that continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very hot weather was likely in central and southern parts.
Monday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 48°C, while in Lahore, it was 43.7°C and minimum was 27.6°C. Later, in the afternoon and evening, the city witnessed scattered rain. However, weather remained partly cloudy and hot. Met officials said more scattered rain events may occur in the city due to the locally build weather systems.
