SWABI: An official here on Saturday said that the government was providing facilities to the growers and suppliers of wheat at the procurement centre.
He said the procurement of good quality wheat was in full swing in Swabi district as per the policy of the provincial government.
The official said that the first 10 days, from May 7 to 17, were reserved for local growers, adding after the first 10 days, procurement of wheat had been opened for all growers/suppliers throughout the country.
“Any growers/suppliers from local, Punjab or Sindh are allowed to bring their produced best quality of wheat at procurement centre Swabi at Rs3,900 per 40 Kg,” he added.
The district food controller Swabi urged all growers, present on the occasion, to ensure quality of wheat as zero tolerance policy has been designed in Procurement Policy by high-ups of the Food Department and approved by cabinet.
The official said that 20 trucks entered the procurement centre for sale of wheat and out of them 11 trucks were rejected by the district procurement committee due to poor quality.
The district food controller, being chairman of the district procurement committee, asked the growers/suppliers to bring good quality wheat or else their wheat would not be accepted. He said each and every facility had been provided to the growers/suppliers to unload their vehicles.
