Cooperative housing societies registrar denies being suspended
Abbasi said the SHC has not issued any order to suspend his services
KARACHI: Cooperative Housing Societies Registrar Zameer Abbasi has denied reports that his services have been suspended by the Sindh High Court (SHC), saying that any such news item is utterly false and baseless.
In a press statement, Abbasi said the SHC has not issued any order to suspend his services. He said the land mafia had started hatching conspiracies against him the day he had started taking action against the elements involved in encroaching upon the land of different residential housing societies in the city. He pointed out that such baseless reports have been propagated by a group involved in undue occupation of the land of the housing societies.
Meanwhile, a reporter of Daily Jang also clarified that he had been misguided by an office-bearer of one such housing society when he briefed him on his petition. The court admitted for an urgent hearing a petition filed by the petitioner, with the appeal that Abbasi should either be suspended or stopped from discharging his duties because of the rising trend of the sale and purchase of plots on his watch.
But the court remained short of issuing any order on the causes given in the petition to suspend his services. The court has only accepted the petition, while a hearing on it will be held on May 22. The court has issued notices to Abbasi and other respondents in this case. Along with this news item, the reporter in question possesses dozens of documentary proofs showing that the administrators of housing societies have been allegedly involved in selling precious plots or producing forged documents of expensive plots in certain housing societies. These proofs can be presented to any court of law.
In addition to these instances, there have been hundreds of such cases where these administrators have been involved in destroying the land record of such housing societies and depriving the bona fide property owners of their rightful land share.
Evidence is also present showing the instances where private persons have been appointed as administrators of these societies. Courts have been moved dozens of times to inquire into such shadowy land affairs.
