LANDIKOTAL: Police foiled a terrorism bid and defused an 8kg explosive device planted to the backside wall of Charwazgay police check-post on Wednesday, officials said.

District Police Officer Salim Abbas Kulachi said that during routine checking in the morning, policemen saw a ghee canister placed with the wall of the check-post. Soon afterwards, the police personnel vacated the post and informed the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU).

He said the BDU found 8kg of explosives and defused the same.

The latest bombing bid, though foiled, panicked area residents and they asked the government to ensure safety and security.

During the past few months, several terrorism incidents including target killings have happened in Khyber district, especially in Jamrud and Landikotal tehsils, wherein policemen and civilians lost their lives.
