IGP resolves cops’ issues

LAHORE: Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has ordered relevant officers to resolve issues of cops.

He asked supervisory officers to maintain close liaison with their subordinate staff to maintain law and order situation under control. The IGP expressed his views while meeting cops and their families at the Central Police Office on Thursday.

He directed the DIG Welfare & Finance to provide relief to Rawalpindi police constable Imran Khan in terms of paying his medical bills, DIG Establishment One to provide relief on the promotion request of Sub-Inspector M Asghar Khan.

The IGP forwarded the application of inspector (retd) Zaheer ud din Babar to RPO Gujranwala for immediate action and instructed DIG Establishment-I to provide consider the application of ASI M Ramzan's wife related to her husband's service matters.

He forwarded the pleas of Faisalabad Constable Noor Ahmad Shaheed's wife Sughran Bibi to DIG Welfare for a priority consideration. The IGP directed officers to provide relief to applications related to promotion, recruitment and other welfare issues.

60pc women join police on open merit

Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar Thursday said more than 60 per cent women have joined police service on open merit. Talking to reporters, the IGP said more than 1,600 women have joined the Punjab Police as lady constables, driver constables and traffic assistants.

He said for the first time in Punjab Police, four women were recruited as driver constables. He said 1,012 women became part of the police force. The IGP said female officers and officials in Punjab Police have equal opportunities for career growth. He said women officers and officials are valuable assets of Punjab Police.
