Tayyab, Asim, Nasir, Noor reach CNS Squash quarters
KARACHI: All four Pakistani players moved into the quarterfinals of the $20,000 16th CNS International Squash championship in Karachi on Thursday.
In the second round, second seed Tayyab Aslam defeated unseeded Wong Chi Him from Hong Kong 11-9, 5-11, 11-8, 11-5 in 45 minutes and unseeded Bryan Tze Kang Lim from Malaysia lost to eighth seed Matthew Lai from Hong Kong 8-11, 5-11, 11-7, 4-11 in 34 minutes.
Seventh seed Noor Zaman beat unseeded Tomo Endo from Japan 12-10, 11-6, 10-12, 12-10 in 40 minutes and unseeded Leo Chung from Hong Kong was defeated by fourth seed M Zakaria from Egypt 11-7, 7-11, 3-11, 9-11 in 38 minutes. Third seed Yassin Elshafei from Egypt was stunned by unseeded M Syafiq Kamal from Malaysia 7-11, 13-11, 8-11, 8-11 in 46 minutes and wildcard Nasir Iqbal surprised fifth seed Perry Malik from England 11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 13-11 in 47 minutes.
