LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Wednesday has intensified its efforts to provide top-notch sanitation services throughout the provincial capital.
Under the direction of LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din, LWMC’s zero-waste operation was being conducted in all the towns in a phased manner. Cleaning operation teams were deployed to conduct extensive sanitation drives in commercial hubs, residential areas, and main roads in Johar Town, utilising heavy machinery. Mechanical sweeping and scraping operations have been initiated along the central dividers as well. LWMC workers were actively engaged in three shifts, cleaning operations supervised by senior officers conducting regular field inspections.CEO Babar Sahib Din has instructed operation teams to conduct mechanical sweeping and scraping along central dividers to ensure cleanliness around commercial markets by 8 am daily. Zero-waste operations have successfully concluded in several areas, including Madr-e-Millat Road, College Road, PIA Road, Khayaban-e-Jinnah Road, Raiwind Road and Thokar Niaz Baig, with the use of compactors and loaders.
Furthermore, town managers have been directed to supervise cleaning operations in their respective areas, emphasising the daily clearance of temporary collection points and ensuring 100% worker attendance. LWMC CEO has urged citizens to cooperate with LWMC staff and dispose of garbage in designated bins.
