Onion price starts falling due to imports

The arrival of onions from abroad and the ongoing wheat crisis in the country have started to lower the prices of onions and flour in the country.

In Karachi, onions, which had been selling for two hundred to two hundred and fifty rupees per kilogram for several months, are now being sold for one hundred to one hundred and twenty rupees per kilogram.

Onions in Lahore are being sold for eighty to one hundred rupees per kilogram, while in Dera Ismail Khan and Swat, one kilogram of onions is being sold for one hundred and twenty rupees, and in Sukkur, it is being sold for one hundred and thirty rupees per kilogram.

On the other hand, after the wheat crisis, the price of chakki flour in Karachi has decreased from Rs160 per kilogram to Rs140 per kilogram. The price of the roller flour mill’s number 2.5 flour has decreased from Rs120 per kilogram to Rs100 per kilogram.

In Peshawar, the price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has decreased by Rs800, while a decrease of up to Rs50 per kilogram has been observed on rice. In Punjab, there has been a decrease of Rs500 to Rs600 in the price of a 10-kilogram bag of flour, while in the Lahore division, a 10-kilogram bag of flour is available for Rs800, in Faisalabad division for Rs830, and in the Gujrat division for Rs850.
