PESHAWAR: The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in collaboration with the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Khyber Medical University (KMU), on Tuesday arranged a poetry recital session to pay tribute to noted Urdu poet Jaun Elia.A press release said that the event titled “Mushairah Bayad-e-Jaun Elia” was held at the Dr Hafeezullah Auditorium of KMU.
KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ziaul Haq, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Director Dr Sami Siraj, Director Sports Nasir Salim Arab, Chief Proctor Dr Bahadur, guests, poets, faculty members and students actively participated in the event.
Dr Sami Siraj in his opening address extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the celebration of Urdu Day and its significance in highlighting the rich tapestry of Urdu literature and culture. He shed light on the Urdu literature, underscoring the value and relevance of Urdu literature in enhancing medical knowledge and understanding.
Earlier, Abid Ullah, President of the Urdu Literary Society at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Society, delivered an introductory speech and welcomed the guests.The programme featured a diverse array of segments, including a mushaira showcasing the poetic talents of the esteemed poet, discussions on poetry by students, and poignant sketches depicting the plight of oppressed communities in Palestine. An insightful discussion was also held on the importance of Urdu literature, emphasizing its profound impact and significance in contemporary society.
