Last-minute goal helps Pakistan hold Japan 1-1
KARACHI: Pakistan hockey team managed to hold Japan to a 1-1 draw in their third match of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. With this result, Pakistan remain at the top with 7 points after three matches.
Rana Waheed was the savior whose goal in 59th minute saved Pakistan, who have remained undefeated in the tournament so far. The first half of the match remained goalless as both sides defended resolutely.
It was in the third quarter of the match that the intensity heightened, with Japan breaking the deadlock through a well-executed goal in the 33rd minute by Nagayoshi Ken, from the penalty corner. Rana Waheed emerged as the hero, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure. The top two teams out of six will qualify for the final of the tournament. Pakistan will play the fourth match against Canada on Wednesday (today) at 1pm PST.
