LAHORE:Maximum temperature has reached 40.5°C in the City here on Monday. Overall it was a hot and dry day but some clouds were also present on the skies, which didn’t give any rain and went away with the hot air blowing in the provincial metropolis. The rise in temperature also affected the citizens as at many places people fainted due to heat wave while rush was also observed at the roadside stalls and shops of traditional juices and drinks. Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country. They predicted mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country. However, partly cloudy weather conditions with light rain-thunderstorm may occur at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan while day temperatures were likely to increase gradually in plain areas of the country. Monday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Jacobabad where mercury reached 46°C while in Lahore it was 40.5°C and minimum was 23.6°C.
