HARIPUR: Two persons were shot dead when the rival parties exchanged fire during a jirga in Beer village, police officials said on Tuesday.

They said that the police said that the General Councilor Riaz Khan of village Beer had called a jirga of the village to seek advice for hiring some local youths for a NGO funded community development project.

During the consultative jirga, the rival parties opened fire at each other after a brief exchange of harsh words over the claim of first right. The firing resulted in on the spot death of Niaz, son of Muhammad Yaqub, and Khizar, son of Chanzeb.
