ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday adjourned till May 10 the hearing of petition seeking nullification of clause related to ban on political talks of the prisoners in Adiala jail.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan remarked: “We need to come out of the fetters of colonial era.”
He gave these remarks during the hearing of Sher Afzal Marwat’s petition.
Advocate General (AG) Islamabad Ayyaz Shaukat raised objection over maintainability of the petition.
The AG argued that the case against Adiala jail rules does not fall in the jurisdiction of IHC.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan remarked the petitioner and amicus curiae should give argument on the maintainability of petition on next hearing.
The court further remarked that one option is that the petitioner should file petition in the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench. “The second option is that we should summon AG Punjab and hear his arguments.”
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 10. It is pertinent to mention here that the Accountability Court Islamabad had prevented Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi from giving statements against state institutions and their officers.
