Protest staged in Landikotal against ‘raids’
LANDIKOTAL: A protest was staged here on Friday to express anger at the recent ‘raids’ by the police in the area.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CDT) Police from Peshawar raided houses in the Khugakhel village of the Landikotal Tehsil two days ago. Residents of the area and people from other walks of life took part in the protest rally. Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leaders, including Khyber district coordinator Aftab Shinwari and Tanzeem-e-Naujawanan workers, joined the protest as well. Raising slogans against the raids, the protesters walked from Bacha Khan Chowk to Landikotal Press Club. They were holding banners inscribed with slogans against the police and CTD raids at homes.
Speaking on the occasion, Landikotal Shah Khalid Shinwari, Israr Shinwari, Aftab Shinwari, Kalimullah Shinwari, Sattar Shinwari and others said they would not allow police to raid their homes and other compounds without the prior court orders.
