PHA, Punjab Sports Dept join hands to promote healthy environment
LAHORE:In a significant development, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Punjab Sports Department joined hands to promote greenery, healthy environment and build necessary sports facilities at parks across the Punjab province.
In this regard, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar chaired an important meeting at the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) office. They key meeting was convened to discuss important details and assign relevant duties regarding the plantation of shady trees around all sports complexes, stadiums, and sports facilities across the province under a mutual understanding. Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab DG Pervez Iqbal, PHA DG Tahir Wattoo and other PHA officers attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Faisal Ayub Khokhar underscored the importance of integrating green initiatives with sports infrastructure development. He outlined plans for the Punjab Sports Department to establish sports facilities at major parks throughout the province, emphasising the need for sustainable landscaping and greening efforts.
Khokhar announced that PHA would take the lead in planting shady trees at all sports grounds and venues across Punjab. He emphasised the collaborative effort between the Punjab Sports Department and PHA, highlighting the formation of a joint committee tasked with assessing the feasibility and planning the implementation of the green initiative.
"The members of the committee will conduct thorough assessments of all sports venues and parks to develop a comprehensive plan for future action," Khokhar stated. Furthermore, PHA to support the promotion of upcoming sports events, particularly the Pink Games, by extending all possible cooperation.
The initiative reflects Punjab's dedication to fostering environmentally friendly sports infrastructure and promoting a greener, more sustainable future for sports and recreation in the province. Through collaborative efforts between government departments, Punjab aims to create sports facilities that not only promote physical activity but also contribute to the conservation of the environment.
Meanwhile, Punjab's Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar will conduct an open court (Khuli Kachehri) at Khokhar Palace in Johar Town on April 23 (today) at 11:00 am. During the Khuli Kachehri, the minister will attentively listen to a range of regional, public, and sports-related issues brought forth by participants. He will then provide immediate directives to address and resolve these issues on the spot.
The event is expected to attract a diverse gathering of individuals from various walks of life, including sports players, administrators, officials, and organizers. Participants will have the opportunity to voice their grievances and concerns directly to the minister, who will take proactive steps to address their needs.
