ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Saturday clarified that the letter dated April 19, concerning NA-8 Bajaur was fake and was being used as a propaganda on social media.
According to the ECP spokesman, the returning officer concerned had informed the deputy commissioner/district returning officer concerned about the fake letter on April 19.
“The letter dated April 19 attributed to Bajaur is fake and being used as propaganda. On April 19, the returning officer concerned had explained the letter in writing to the deputy commissioner/district returning officer that it was a fake letter which should be ignored,” he explained.
The returning officer’s explanatory letter has also been shared with the media.
The spokesman said, “The Election Commission clarifies that the preparation process for the elections in NA-8 Bajaur, has been completed smoothly, which has been confirmed by the returning officer. Tomorrow, polling will be held for the by-elections in all the constituencies, including this constituency, in which the people can exercise their right to vote without fear”.
