Inmate escapes from police custody

Rawalpindi: An inmate, arrested in a drug dealing case, has escaped from police custody while he was transported to Adiala Jail after attending trial of his case on Saturday, the police said.

The under trail inmate identified as Shahaab alias Katta, was booked by Pir Wadhai police in possession of heavy quantity of drugs and was shifted to jail on judicial remand after completion of his physical remand, police said. On Saturday, he was taken to court for case proceeding under the supervision of ASI Nawazish and taken back after attending the court. On the way to jail, the under trail suspect managed to unchain himself when reached near the jail, allegedly, with the help of the cop and escaped from police custody. The police claimed that teams have been sent to arrest the accused at large.
