Ralfe Raja claims solid lead in National Amateur Golf

ISLAMABAD: Ralfe e Aslam Raja with an aggregate score of one under par 212 over three days leads the main category of the 63rd National Amateur Golf Championship underway at the Margalla Greens.

At the close of the penultimate day Saturday, Raja was well ahead of his closest rival Shahzeb Jehan who managed two over 215 on 54 holes in a par 71 course. Both golfers who are leading the pack carded two under 69 for the day.

Karachi’s Omer Intesar (218) is at third place after an impressive round of 70 while Sri Lankan golfer Chalitha Pushpika and Raja Israr (219) are further behind.

Uchitha Akash, another Sri Lankan, is a stroke behind. The senior amateur title was won by Rizwan Rashid with seven over 220 over three days. On the third day, the local golfer carded a score of par to take the title. He was followed by Mohammad Asim Tiwana (232) who finished twelve strokes behind the leader. Ayub Khan also managed the same score 232).

In the ladies category, Parkha Ijaz and Humna Amjad were tied for the lead, both carding par rounds of 72 on Saturday. They are tied at 146 (+4 on the par-71 course).

Karachi’s Daniyah Syed who carded 70 on Saturday was at 147 followed by Rimsha Ijaz at 152. The four-day championship concludes today.
