Security guard killed thwarting Landhi terror attack laid to rest

A security guard who lost his life while fighting against terrorists in Landhi’s Mansehra Colony was laid to rest on Saturday.

The body of the slain security guard, Noor Muhammad, was taken to his hometown Sanghar where he was laid to rest. A large number of people, including senior police officials, attended the funeral, while the police officials also announced they would recommend compensation for his family.

Noor has left his behind a widow and a son. He was killed by the firing of terrorists during an attack on foreign nationals in early Friday morning hours. One more security guard and a passerby were also wounded in the attack while both the attackers were eliminated.

The slain security guard had played a crucial role in thwarting the attack on foreigners’ vehicle, while the police were praised for their successful operation. The militants from a banned organisation attacked the vehicle of foreigners and one terrorist blew himself up with an explosive.

Amidst the attack, a van between the attackers and the foreigners’ vehicle ensured the safety of the foreigners’ vehicle. Another militant began firing, and security guard Noor Muhammad, along with civilian companions, retaliated with gunfire, keeping the attackers engaged.

As a result of the security guard’s gunfire, another attacker was shot in the neck and severely injured. When the police arrived, they shot the severely wounded attacker in the head, killing him instantly.

Noor was also severely injured in the incident and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital later. However, while Karachi police officers were rewarded with cash prizes and awards, Noor Muhammad, who played a crucial role in saving the lives of foreign nationals, had not yet been given any reward.

Meanwhile, no case has been registered while no militant group has so far claimed the responsibility of the attack.
