Sharjeel inaugurates Peoples Bus Service in Mirpurkhas
HYDERABAD: Sindh’s Senior Minister and Minister for Transport, Excise and Taxation Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the top leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party and the chief minister of Sindh are making every possible effort to provide relief to the people in a cheap and better environment.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Peoples Bus Service in Mirpurkhas on Saturday, he said that by following the orders of the top leadership of PPP, implementation on the 10-point agenda of public service had been started because the party had always carried out its work according to the aspirations of the people.
“Today is an important day for the people of Mirpurkhas as well as Sindh province because the Pakistan Peoples Party has solved the long-standing problems of the people,” he added.
Memon, who is also the provincial information minister, said that, unfortunately, “a few fools and politicians of hatred” had put this country in trouble.
He said that with the efforts of PPP and Sindh government, the People’s Bus Service had been started in Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur, Hyderabad and now in Mirpurkhas and soon it would be started in every district of Sindh.
He said the pink bus service for women was started in Karachi for the first time, which is facility not available in Europe, Canada and other developed countries, and soon it will be started on two routes across Sindh.
He said that this honour also goes to the PPP and the Sindh government that the first electric bus service was launched in Karachi.
He said that despite the increasing prices of petrol and diesel, the Peoples Bus Service is being subsidized by the government to provide low-fare travel to the people so that better and cheaper travel facilities can be provided to the people.
Memon said that the phase of providing better and cheaper travel facilities to the public on behalf of the Transport Department of Sindh is still going on, and in the first phase, the pink, EV and red bus services were provided, and now the orange bus and yellow bus facility of intra-city and inter-city will be launched this year to connect the cities.
On this occasion, Minister for Social Welfare Mir Tariq Talpar said the PPP has given a wonderful gift to the citizens of Mirpurkhas by starting the People's Bus Service.
MPAs Haji Noor Ahmed Bhurgari, Hari Ram Kishori Lal, Secretary Transport Asad Zaman, PPP officials, officers of the relevant departments, journalists and a large number of people were present on this occasion.
Earlier, Secretary Transport Asad Zaman was welcomed by Secretary RTA Saleem Memon at Hyderabad’s Toll Plaza and talked about the transport situation in Hyderabad, after which he left for the inauguration ceremony of Mirpurkhas.
