The woman killed on Wednesday in firing by robbers in Malir was buried at her hometown in Punjab on Thursday. The family members of the deceased woman took her body to their hometown in Lodhran where they buried her.

A 45-year-old woman, Shahida Iqbal, was killed and another person, Naveed Zakir, 55, was injured in a firing incident late on Wednesday night within the limits of the Malir City police station. Three robbers were robbing citizens in the Jafar Tayyar Society area in Malir when some people started shouting to make others aware of the robbers.

The shouting prompted a citizen to fire at the robbers who opened indiscriminate fire to scare the people off. The firing hit two passers-by, including a woman, who were injured. One of the robbers was also hit by a bullet in the indiscriminate firing by his accomplices who left the injured robber and escaped the scene. The crowd shifted the two injured citizens to a hospital but beat up the injured robber who died. Later, the injured woman succumbed to her injuries. Police said an investigation into the woman’s killing was under way and a case had been registered.
