Sikandar orders clearing teachers’ dues
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat met the teachers of non-formal schools who informed the minister about their professional problems and difficulties, including non-payment of salaries for the last 10 months.
The minister contacted Secretary Literacy & Non-Formal Education and conducted a detailed consultation on the sensitivity of the matter. While discussing the problems of teachers, he instructed the Secretary Literacy to take emergency measures for the immediate resolution of the problem and to ensure payment of 10 months’ salaries and other dues to teachers in the next 20 to 30 days.
Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar said that serious steps were being taken to solve the problems of the teachers. The minister added work was being done on creating a teacher compilation portal and citizen compilation portal.
He said that the abuses committed by the previous government with teachers and the educational system were not hidden from anyone and vowed to solve problems of the teachers on an urgent basis.
PU 19 subjects included in QS ranking
Punjab University has been ranked in total 19 subjects in the latest QS ranking. According to a press release, the subjects ranked include Library and Information Management, Petroleum Engineering, Languages, Linguistics, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Agriculture & Forestry, Physics & Astronomy, Engineering & Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Business and Management Studies, Economics and econometrics, Natural Sciences, Computer Science & Information Systems, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences & Management, Biological Sciences, and Medicine. Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has congratulated faculty members, students and staff.
