Tourists throng scenic spots in Orakzai on Eid
KALAYA: Over 1,61,000 tourists visited various scenic spots during Eid holidays in Orakzai tribal district.
The visitors hailing from Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Khyber and elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also enjoyed traditional and local cuisines and music during their stay in the district.
The Tourism Department and district administration had made proper arrangements for the smooth flow of traffic and stay, while the personnel of police and security forces provided foolproof security to the tourists at all the tourist attractions.
The tourists were also provided brochures, pamphlets and booklets about the tourist spots and the roads leading to these scenic destinations.The organizers had established a tent village for the stay of tourists and food stalls to facilitate visitors.
There was a great rush of visitors in Samana, Sampog Hill, Dabori, Anjghali, Sheikhan, Essa Khel, Godaro Ghara, Undkhel, Mandra Khel, Waterfall Drak Mamuzai, Drak Summer, Drak Winter, Sama Mamuzai, Banda Mamuzai, Jabar Ghakhy, Khandu, Kalaya, Sekahram Ali Khel, Arhanga Pass, Baghnak Ali Khel, Gulistan Fort, Ferozekhel, Ziara, Landok, Nanawar Cave, Khalawat, Toi Khala, Kharasha-Khwa Storikhel and Spinkai.
The local residents said that the initiative taken by the Tourism Department would not only promote tourism in the region but would also create employment opportunities for youths and boost the local economy.
It may be mentioned that local youth were given regular training in tour guiding and workshops were held to raise awareness about tourism among the people and facilitate tourists visiting the region.
