MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered the acquisition of land for the graveyard in the city and its suburbs.“I have directed the Revenue Department to acquire an appropriate piece of land for the graveyard which is the longstanding demand of the people,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati told reporters here on Sunday.

Flanked by the deputy president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kamal Saleem Swati, he said that the funds of Rs200 million were deposited in the district administration’s account for the acquisition of land for the graveyard in 2017 which were still unutilised.

“We have also been considering a plan to acquire separate pieces of land for the graveyards in the city and its suburbs, all this depends on the availability of suitable pieces of land,” the speaker said.He added that he wanted to address all core issues faced by the people and funds would be earmarked for such projects in the upcoming budget.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial deputy president of PTI, Kamal Saleem Swati, said that the people were facing shortages of burial spaces at the existing cemeteries in the city and its suburbs.

“The Revenue Department’s team has been visiting different places to find an appropriate piece of land for the graveyard, I am sure we could address this issue shortly,” he added.
