Citizen detained for killing mugger
After taking notice of a video that went viral on social media, the District East police have detained a citizen who shot an injured mugger to ensure his death.
In a statement, the District East police said it had been reported that some robbers tried to rob a citizen within the limits of the SITE Superhighway police station.
The citizen overpowered one of the robbers prompting the suspects to open fire in which the civilian was injured.
However, the police also received a video clip from various sources in which a man could be seen firing at an injured robber. Police swung into action and found that the shooter, Javed Bilal, was a relative of the civilian who was shot by muggers.
After identification, the police detained the man and seized the pistol used by him. Further investigations into the matter are under way being supervised by the District East investigation SSP.
Police said that it is a requirement of the law to hand over the injured, even if they are robbers, to the police.
