Police say anti-drug efforts on
LANDIKOTAL: The Khyber police on Tuesday shared on social media more names of the alleged drug smugglers and facilitators with pictures.
District Police Officer(DPO) Salim Abbas Kulachi made named the alleged 64 narcotics smugglers and dealers with pictures. The accused included four Police Department employees who were allegedly involved in narcotics dealing and facilitating smugglers in district Khyber.
Talking to The News, the DPO said most of the smugglers and their facilitators had been arrested. He confirmed that after a thorough investigation, the police found four Police Department employees involved in narcotics dealing and facilitating smugglers. They were arrested later and sacked.
He mentioned the accused as constables Ali Abad, Fayaz, Raj Wali and Jamshid were arrested.The DPO said several cops were terminated last month due to their involvement in illegal activities.
Kulachi said the police were after the rest of the wanted persons and they would be behind bars soon.He said the pictures and data of 34 more persons from the Jamrud tehsil and 30 from Ali Masjid locality were shared with different police stations uploaded on social media so that they could be arrested.
The DPO said a number of wanted and arrested narcotics dealers and smugglers were Afghan nationals residing in Shakas and the rest of Jamrud areas.He said the names and pictures of other 60 persons had been already displayed in various police stations and other public places. The DPO said special had been constituted which were specifically working to eliminate all social evils, especially drugs dealers and traffickers.
