Performance report released: KP Food Authority enlists actions against adulteration
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has issued its performance report for Ramazan, showcasing various actions against food adulteration.
During the holy month, around 9,755 food-related businesses were inspected, resulting in the seizure and disposal of approximately 46,825 kilograms/liters of substandard and hazardous food items. Moreover, fines and licenses worth over Rs15.8 million were imposed on violators.
The report highlighted inspections of various establishments, including bakeries, meat and chicken shops, hotels, and milk vendors. Notably, 12,652 kilograms of bakery products were discarded, and 51 bakeries were sealed due to non-compliance with food safety rules.
Furthermore, hazardous beverages and milk totaling 2,150 litres and 7,262 litres, respectively, were disposed of to mitigate health risks. To enforce health regulations, warnings were issued to 763 businesses, and 113 were sealed.
