LAHORE : A 14-year-old boy was raped by a suspect in Raiwind City on Saturday. Police registered a case against the suspect and arrested him.
The suspect Jawad Ahmad had lured the victim and took him to quarters in a nearby plaza where he raped the victim. The suspect fled from the scene when the victim cried for help. Further investigations into the matter were underway.
One killed, two injured in roof collapse incidents
A man died and two children sustained injuries in roof collapse of two houses in different incidents here on Saturday.
A 65-year-old man died in a roof collapse due to fire in a house in Khokhar Town. The victim, Munir, was inside his house at Bund Road when it caught fire. In a short span of time, it turned into a huge fire. As the fire engulfed the building, a portion of the house collapsed. The victim was trapped under the debris and died. In another incident, two minor girls were injured after a roof collapsed due to fire in a house at Jallo Mor. The victims identified as Alina, 12, and Lashawar, 10, were inside their house when it caught a fire. Due to the fire, the roof collapsed. As a result, the minor victims were trapped and injured. They were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Services of police khidmat counters to be improved
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that according to the vision of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the police khidmat counters established in hospitals will be made more active and the quality of facilities will be improved with the support of the health department.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health care Khawaja Imran Nazir, Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique on the occasion of a visit to the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Office Lawrence Road on Saturday.
IG Punjab said that joint measures will be taken to solve the public health problems faced by the transgender community in collaboration with the health department. He said that with the cooperation of the health department, facility of health screening including diagnosis of aids and other important tests will be provided to transgenders community.
40 arrested under Kite Flying Act
On the direction of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a special campaign against metal strings and kite flying is going on in the entire province.
Punjab Police spokesman said that during the last 24 hours, 40 accused were arrested under the Kite Flying Act, 42 cases were registered, 2,296 kites and 34 string wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused. He further said that during the last 40 days, 3,779 suspects were arrested under the Anti-Kite Flying Act, 3,646 cases were registered, 229,096 kites and 15,963 spinning wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused.
