Inquiry ordered after death of woman, newborn

LANDIKOTAL: An inquiry was ordered after a woman and her child died due to the alleged negligence of the staff of the District Headquarters Hospital, Landikotal, sources said on Friday.

Provincial Minister Muhammad Adnan Qadri told The News by phone that he was informed

about the alleged negligence by the health staff at DHQ hospital that caused the death of a woman and her child.

Earlier, Rehman Shinwari, the husband of the deceased woman, Shamsuddin and others staged a protest outside the DHQ Hospital in Landikotal. Her husband said that they had brought the patient in a critical situation to the hospital. He said that health staff told them that the baby could be delivered through surgery. He said after an hour he was asked to take the patient to Peshawar due to her serious condition.

He said that he took his wife with surgical cuts on her body to a hospital in Peshawar, where they were told that the mother and her baby had died due to severe bleeding. The husband of the woman lodged a case against the health staff and demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, the provincial minister directed the SHO Landikotal, District Health Officer and District Police Officer to conduct an investigation into the death of the woman and her child.
