IGP orders quick action against kidnappers

LAHORE: The Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Friday ordered quick action against culprits involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion and organised crime.

Presiding over a meeting held at Central Police Office, the IGP asked police officers to accelerate action against anti-social elements involved in land grabbing, smuggling and hoarding and other crimes. He said security of Chinese nationals working on CPEC and non-CPEC projects is top priority.

The IGP said after Eid, the process of evacuation of foreign nationals staying illegally would be resumed across the province. He ordered improvement in monitoring and surveillance of inter-provincial and riverine check posts. The IGP asked cops to intensify the crackdown on manufacturers of metal strings and kites.

Report on 10 years of cases, challans reviewed

A video link meeting was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Additional IG Investigation Punjab to review the follow-up progress report of 10 years of cases and challans. Additional IG Investigation Punjab declared the previous reports of pending challans and cases under investigation unsatisfactory in all districts except for a few districts.

Rs1.85m for cops’ treatment released

The Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Friday released Rs1,850,000 for medical treatment of cops and their families.

Former constable Muhammad Akram was given Rs1million for liver transplant, constable Sharafat Ali of Vehari police was given Rs300,000 for the treatment of brain paralysis and senior clerk Sikandar Hayat of Sahiwal police was given Rs200,000 for the treatment of leg fracture.

The IGP released Rs250,000 for Sub-Inspector Ilyas Masih of MT Punjab for the treatment of hepatitis & tumor and Rs 100,000 for the treatment of cancer and hernia of the wife of former assistant of Lahore police Muhammad Ali.

The financial assistance has been released after the scrutiny of the Welfare Committee.
