Some 300 trees are in danger of being chopped down to make way for the expansion of a road that the administration of the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences has approved recently. This is despite the protests lodged by students of the university.
The planned expansion of the road if allowed to go ahead will completely remove the last remaining trees on the campus. The latest expansion project is the latest in a series of projects that resulted in the destruction and degradation of greenery in the university. It is alleged that these ‘development’ projects are being undertaken without taking into account the environmental considerations. The authorities concerned are requested to take immediate action before it is too late.
