E-libraries key to promoting literature, knowledge among youth

LAHORE: Punjab Sports Department’s e-libraries are playing an important role in the promotion of literature and knowledge among the youth. DG Youth Affairs Punjab Pervez Iqbal said this while talking to a delegation of Punjab Archives and Libraries Department at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

Secretary Archives and Libraries Wing Zahoor Hussain led the delegation which, also include DG Libraries Kashif Manzoor, Chief Librarian QAL/GPPL Abdul Raheem and Chief Librarian Model Town Library Malik Eid Muhammad. Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum also present on this occasion.

The members of Punjab Archives and Libraries delegation along with DG Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal also visited SBP E-Library and Youth Center at Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Talking on this occasion, Pervez Iqbal said, thousands of students utilise modern facilities of e-library daily for gaining latest information and knowledge all over the Punjab province. “We are promoting knowledge and literature among the youth according to modern requirements”. He said Punjab Sports Department will extend every kind of help to the Archives Department for establishing e-libraries. “We are planning to establish more e-libraries in several cities of Punjab province in near future”.

Secretary Archives and Libraries Zahoor Hussain said that Punjab Archives and Libraries Department has decided to adopt Sports Board Punjab’s model of e-libraries as part of their mission to promote knowledge and literature in the province. He said that Sports Board Punjab has created an excellent and disciplined network of e-libraries across the province. “The e-libraries system of Sports Board Punjab is very impressive and we are going to establish e-libraries in the Archive Dept on the same pattern,” he added. DG Libraries Kashif Manzoor said that Punjab Sports Department has an ideal system of e-libraries in the province and Archives Dept will introduce the same disciplined system for establishing their e-libraries.
